Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated bankruptcy paralegal to join our legal team in Mesa.  As a bankruptcy paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys in all aspects of bankruptcy case management. From client intake and document preparation to court filings and case administration, you will contribute to providing exceptional legal services to our clients facing financial challenges.  Chapter 13 experience is a plus.  

Responsibilities:

  1. Client Communication and Intake:

    • Conduct initial client interviews and intake assessments.
    • Gather relevant financial information and documentation from clients.
    • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on their cases and address any questions or concerns.
  2. Case Preparation and Management:

    • Assist attorneys in preparing bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other legal documents.
    • Conduct legal research on bankruptcy laws, procedures, and precedents.
    • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are accurate and up-to-date.
    • Prepare and file bankruptcy pleadings and motions with the appropriate courts.
  3. Court Representation and Proceedings:

    • Coordinate with attorneys to schedule and prepare for court hearings and meetings.
    • Accompany attorneys to bankruptcy court proceedings and provide administrative support as needed.
    • Assist with drafting and filing court documents, including responses to motions and objections.
  4. Administrative Support:

    • Manage calendars, appointments, and deadlines for attorneys and clients.
    • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including phone calls, emails, and mail.
    • Coordinate with external parties, such as creditors, trustees, and court personnel.
  5. Compliance and Ethics:

    • Ensure compliance with bankruptcy laws, rules, and regulations.
    • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive client information.
    • Adhere to ethical standards and professional conduct in all interactions with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Prior experience working as a bankruptcy paralegal or in a similar legal support role.
  • Proficiency in bankruptcy software and case management systems (e.g., Best Case, Practice Panther).
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Arizona bankruptcy laws and procedures is a plus.
