Job DescriptionJob Description

Our Occupational Therapists are skilled professionals who work with children to unlock their potential for independence. Through engaging play and targeted activities, they empower children to excel in daily tasks, from self-care to learning, fostering a path towards a brighter future.

Working alongside physicians and physical therapists, an OTD devises a treatment plan to help patients rehabilitate or adapt to a physical injury or illness. When a patient is referred to an OTD, the initial appointment is focused on assessing the patient’s needs and developing a positive rapport.

Common reasons that a patient may seek the services of an OTD include: stroke, accident, injury, or trauma. An OTD helps patients extend their range of motion and learn how to perform functions like: tying shoes, brushing teeth, getting dressed or use a computer. Often, an OTD provides special equipment to make these tasks easier. Some examples include:

  • Walking Cane
  • Electric Toothbrush
  • Shower Chair
  • Specialized Pens
  • Larger Eating Utensils
  • Assistive Technology
  • Standing Frames
  • Special Strollers
  • Special Needs Tricycles
  • Grab Bars
  • Kinesthetic Chairs
  • Weighted Blankets and Vests
  • improving fine motor skills so they can grasp and release toys and develop good handwriting skills
  • addressing hand-eye coordination to improve kids’ play and school skills (hitting a target, batting a ball, copying from a blackboard, etc.)
  • learning basic tasks (such as bathing, getting dressed, brushing their teeth, and feeding themselves)
  • maintaining positive behaviors in all environments (e.g., instead of hitting others or acting out, using positive ways to deal with anger, such as writing about feelings or participating in a physical activity.
  • evaluating the need for specialized equipment, such as wheelchairs, splints, bathing equipment, dressing devices, or communication aids
  • improving attention and social skills to allow the development of interpersonal relationships.

· Driver's License with registered/insured vehicle
