Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Description

A Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician supervises and performs basic to intermediate-level work in building maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of fixtures, equipment, and facilities.  

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair.
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
  • Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
  • Maintaining the building HVAC equipment, to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.
  • Applying appropriate preventative measures throughout the properties to reduce the risk of future problems.
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
  • Painting internally or externally for touch ups or when has become faded or chipped.
  • Groundskeeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance.
  • Vendor management and quote/procurement coordination.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or partners and public visitors to the facilities in a pleasant manner.
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
  • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building.

·         Drive a vehicle to and from work sites.

·         Must be available for on-call maintenance emergencies during non-standard hours. 

·         Perform other related duties as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•                    Intermediate knowledge of plumbing systems, with the ability to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems.

•                    Intermediate knowledge of electrical systems, with the ability to address basic electrical problems. 

•                    Intermediate knowledge of carpentry, with the ability to complete minor structural repairs and updates.     

•                    Intermediate knowledge of HVAC systems, with the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the system. 

•                    Advanced knowledge of construction and maintenance of various types of buildings and facilities.

•                    Advanced Knowledge of safety procedures and safety equipment.

•                    Advanced skills in the use of hand and power tools and equipment used in building and construction.

•                    Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

•                    Ability to prioritize work.

•                    Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.

•                    Ability to work effectively with others.

•                    Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks.

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma or possession of a GED certificate, and five (5) years of experience as a skilled trades worker in either: plumbing, electrical, or HVAC.

Possession of a valid driver’s license. 

This position is subject to a level II background check.
