Shipyard Staffing is currently hiring for Marine Pipefitters for work in Norfolk, VA.

Marine Pipefitter Job Description:

  • Analyzes job from start to finish ensuring proper and safe work methods used.
  • Lays out pipe systems, supports and identifies needed equipment following blueprints.
  • Cuts and bores holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, using hand and power tools.
  • Cuts threads and hammers pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
  • Modifies, cleans, and maintains pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment following specifications and using hand and power tools.
  • Bolts or welds pipe brackets to support pipe systems. Connects pipes to fixtures, such as radiators, laundry, and galley equipment, pumps, and tanks, using wrench, and solders joints to seal connections, using hand torch.
  • Tests installed systems for leaks and to ensure that system meets specifications, using hydro-static and other pressure test equipment.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least four to five years of Pipe Fitting experience.
  • Must have the ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Must be able to operate hand tools, bending machines and other equipment used in the trade.
  • Must know how to target and jig piping for duplication.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and design sketches.
  • Must be able to work effectively with others.
  • Must be steady, reliable worker.
