Duties and Responsibilities

  • Crisis Intervention certification required (may be acquired within 90 days of employment).
  • Training in trauma-focused and/or trauma-informed psychotherapy is preferred.
  • Interview individuals, couples, families, and other involved persons to gather personal and social data relevant to assessing psychological (mental, behavioral, and emotional disorders)
  • Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments on individuals
  • Develop person-centered, strength-based treatment plans
  • Coordinate care with other staff members and community agencies
  • Provide psychoeducation to individuals, families, and groups
  • Assist individuals, and families in understanding and choosing options for mental health treatment
  • Initiate and conduct individual and group therapy sessions
  • Perform specialized tasks, including involuntary hospitalization procedures (5150) and Tarasoff assessments
  • Prepare reports and compose correspondence
  • Act as a case consultant to other clinical therapists and other departmental staff
  • Coordinate clinical decisions in response to operational demands
  • Perform crisis intervention during scheduled work hours and on-call

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, healthcare, or another related field; master’s degree a plus
  • Current state license
  • Previous experience professional social work experience
  • Must have transportation available to travel to meet with clients
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Bilingual - Spanish/English
