Job DescriptionJob Description

NSC a subsidiary of NSC has an immediate opening for Pipe Fitters in Pascagoula MS. Pipe Fitters must have the ability to understand directions and follow instructions. Technically proficient in tasks, work processes, and equipment operation. Accountable for completion of daily work assignments, completion of work signatures, and QA signatures for completeness and quality of work.

$42 per hour and $140 Per Diem

•           Advance available to assist with lodging and incidentals after passing weld testing and medical screening requirements

First Class Pipefitters are responsible for:

· Fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as carbon steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fittings,

· Utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawing, arrangements and blueprints.

· Shipyard production areas will involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day.

· Pipefitters may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time.

 

Basic Qualifications

Minimum 4 years pipefitting trade experience

Basic math calculations, including decimals and fractions, reading and comprehension skills

Knowledge of the layout, fit-up, fabrication and installation of pipe, flanges and valves and ship terminology

Experience reading and interpreting trade drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements

 

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of setting and erecting units with proficiency in the use of Datum Lines

Familiarity with fit-up, alignment tolerances and advanced blueprint reading skills
