With more than 120 + community partners, we coordinate resources and services — literally bringing Community into our Schools — to do whatever it takes in supporting the students we serve. CIS of Nevada is one of 26 state offices in a national network with more than 45 years of experience implementing our evidence-based solution for 1.7 million students.

In 2020-2021, CIS of Nevada celebrated a K-12 promotion rate of 96% and our statewide high school graduation rate of 92%.

Job Purpose/Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of the CIS Academy Program, including the development of curriculum, teacher support and program supervision. Work closely with site staff, community agencies, parents/families, and students to assure coordination of services and initiatives for the benefit of students and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Development and Support

  • Train, supervise, orientate, and coach Academy Specialist(s).
  • Support in the implementation of Academy standards, curriculum, and pilot programs.
  • Train Site Coordinator and other CIS staff on Academy Standards and processes.
  • Organize and lead Academy level meetings, quarterly meetings, and principal meetings.
  • Collaborates with CIS ancillary departments to create Academy protocols and programming.
  • Oversee Academy field trip approval process.
  • Plan, organize, and lead Academy special initiatives and logistics.
  • Supports annual review process for Academy Site Coordinators.
  • Assist Senior Director in development and implementation of department AOP goals.
  • Meet with various Academy stakeholders to support the building and execution of Academy classes.
  • Coordinate communication between Teachers, Site Coordinator, Program Manager, Academy Specialist, and community partners.
  • Support with the research of community partners to expand workforce development and career exploration opportunities for Academy students.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers to conduct periodic audits and assessments; work with Academy instructors/teachers and staff to implement corrective action as needed.

Academy Teacher Support and Development

  • Support Teachers with Academy curriculum planning.
  • Coach Academy teachers in curriculum development, course pacing, and lesson execution.
  • Oversee and organize Academy Teachers recruitment.
  • Conducts Teacher observations and provides teacher feedback.
  • Develop systems to capture feedback to and from Academy Teachers and stakeholders.
  • Serve as liaison between CIS and Community Partners connected to teacher prep programs.

Academy Data

  • Work with the Director of Data & Evaluation to create and update service details in CISDM.
  • Review and analyze Academy class and student data (internal and CISDM Data).
  • Ensure Academy data standards are being upheld with fidelity through monitoring of goal sequencing of Academy student.
  • Report on Academy goals, programs events, and partnerships.
  • Support in end-of-year Academy program reporting.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee Academy school site budgets and maintain fiscal responsibility of school budgets.
  • Supports in planning and creating an annual fiscal plan for Academy program.
  • Oversight of credit card purchases and approval procedures.
  • Continuously monitor staff performance measures to ensure organizational goals are being met.
  • Oversee and maintain teacher prep buyout process, working alongside CCSD staff to organize and complete the process.

Site Staff and Campus Connections

  • Communicate, develop, and maintain positive relationships with site staff/school administration.
  • Ensure coordinators and CIS are actively working to increase and strengthen campus and class relations, and knowledge of course.
  • Provide Site Coordinators with continual exposure to outside agency resources.
  • Assist with the development of community partner relationships to help enhance class outcomes and fulfill the needs of Academy class and school site.

Affiliate Relations and Leadership

  • Attend and participate actively in all required CIS staff meetings.
  • Organize and facilitate Academy Team staff meetings.
  • Participate in CIS programmatic and professional development training.
  • Assist in the preparation for and execution of CIS fundraising activities and events.
  • Participate as an active member of the CIS Affiliate, through attendance and active participation in meetings, trainings, professional development, fundraising activities, and other activities as required.

Qualifications and Competencies

Qualifications include:

  • Teaching experience or Nevada State Teaching License strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent writing, communication, persuasive presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with writing and developing curriculum preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Ability to set goals, meet deadlines and evaluate results.
  • Ability to coach and motivate direct reports, manage relationships with various professionals in multiple locations with diverse needs and expectations.
  • Knowledge of data collection and proficiency tracking progress within the framework consistent with our programmatic requirements.
  • Previous experience working within a school district and alongside administration a plus.
  • Previous experience working within a classroom a plus.
  • Well-connected in education, social service and/or business community.
  • Excellent organizational, training, coordination, fundraising and leadership skills.
  • Sensitivity to needs of youth and diverse ethnic populations.

Competencies include:

  • List relevant knowledge, skills, abilities required for the position.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Maybe exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office and classroom setting.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Use of own automobile.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, possible fingerprinting, and drug screen.
