Job Title: Machinist Hydraulics Technician

Job Summary: The Machinist Hydraulics Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and assembly of hydraulic systems and components, as well as the operation of machine tools to fabricate or modify parts as needed. This role requires a strong understanding of hydraulic principles, machining techniques, and mechanical systems to ensure the proper functioning of hydraulic equipment and machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hydraulic System Maintenance: Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems and components to identify issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements. This includes pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and fittings.
  2. Component Assembly: Assemble and disassemble hydraulic components and systems according to engineering drawings, manufacturer specifications, and technical manuals. Ensure proper alignment, fit, and functionality of all parts.
  3. Machining Operations: Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate or modify hydraulic components and parts. This may involve turning, drilling, milling, or grinding metal to precise dimensions and tolerances.
  4. Welding and Fabrication: Utilize welding and fabrication techniques to repair or modify hydraulic equipment and structures. This may involve welding hydraulic lines, fabricating brackets or mounts, and performing other metalworking tasks as required.
  5. Fluid Power Testing: Conduct performance testing and diagnostics on hydraulic systems to ensure proper operation and efficiency. This may include pressure testing, flow testing, and leak detection to verify system integrity and functionality.
  6. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for hydraulic equipment and machinery to minimize downtime and prevent costly repairs. Perform routine inspections, lubrication, and adjustments as needed.
  7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts inventory, and service history for hydraulic systems and components. Prepare reports and documentation as required for compliance and quality control purposes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in hydraulics, machining, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a machinist or hydraulic technician, with knowledge of hydraulic principles, systems, and components.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments effectively.
  • Experience with CNC machining and programming is a plus.
  • Welding certification and experience with metal fabrication techniques preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail, safety-consciousness, and commitment to quality workmanship.
