Machinist

An experienced machinist responsible for all machine shop processes. This individual should have the knowledge, skills, and experience related to the manufacturing of precision metal parts. HYTORC’s Machinist must be adept at handling the pacing and challenges inside a prototyping shop with both Manual and CNC machines.

Machinist Job Primary Responsibilities:

• Operates and maintains lathes and milling machines both Manual and CNC.
• Can also manage secondary processes such as using: saws, grinding wheels, polishing, and tooling modifications.
• Reviews drawings, instructions, models, or samples to ensure accurate production.
• Takes precise measurements for cutting or part modifications.
• Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
• Plans proper sequence of steps or events to complete a project
• Able to complete prototyping assembly build along with having experience with fixturing and tooling.
• Checks completed items for quality and accuracy.
• Provides machine maintenance and identifies needs for repairs.
• Maintains a safe and clean work area.
• Contributes to team effort by working in a group environment
• Able to help solve complex issues with using experience with parts

Machinist Qualifications:

• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
• Solid verbal communication skills
• Proficient in math and fundamentals for machining items.
• Basic computer skills
• Basic understanding of metals and how practices for manufacturing may change per material type.
• AutoCAD &Solid works proficiency preferred.
• Familiarity with G code for programing CNC/milling machines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks

Experience

High school degree or equivalent

• Min 5 years’ experience working with machine tools and mechanical assemblies
