JOB SUMMARY:
You will be joining the Analytics & Tools team, reporting to the Lead Data Engineer and working on data pipelines, warehousing and analytics systems to provide clean and consistent data to our systems engineers, machine learning systems and analytics team, all of which help to drive the content recommendation platform for millions of users.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Working on high volume, streaming or event driven architectures in a cloud environment
- Mentoring, supporting, and developing other data engineers
- Significant experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, a well as SQL
- Building and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines
- Utilize PostgreSQL, Redshift or similar databases
- Use AWS or similar cloud infrastructure
- Experience with Data Modelling and Data Warehousing/Data Lakes
- Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Avro and Parquet
- Optimize data pipelines for machine learning applications
- Work with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Luigi or Apache NiFi
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS:
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced start-up, entertainment, or media company
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Ability to remain calm and collected in high pressure situations
- An understanding of current social/digital platforms
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Ability to multi - task and prioritize duties
- Possess good understanding of web, social, and talent & creator landscape
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Slack.
- A commitment to excellence and a deep belief in diversity and collaboration
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to talk or hear in order to give and receive information and instructions
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to type, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to use computer keyboard up to 80% of the work day
- Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment
- Lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
