Description

Sheet Metal Mechanic: fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. Install prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes.

Requirements

Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses at all times), respirator when required. Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.

• Must be self-motivated and willing to work from descriptions and blue prints and shop drawings to building specifications
• Set up and operate fabrication machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal
• Shape metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer
• Operate soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts
• Inspect, assemble, and smooth seams and joints of burred surfaces
• Experience using power and hand tools
• Must have layout capabilities
• Must have a good attitude and be willing to work with other craftsmen
• Must be hard working and have the drive and determination to complete the task at hand
• Must be dependable and willing to complete the project at hand from start to finish
