Job Overview
The Tax Preparer will be responsible for preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax laws, excellent analytical skills, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Return Preparation: Prepare and review accurate tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients to gather financial information, explain tax-related concepts, and offer tax planning advice.
- Tax Law Compliance: Stay up-to-date with the latest tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and advise clients accordingly.
- Documentation: Collect, organize, and maintain financial records and documentation required for tax filings.
- Error Resolution: Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues related to tax returns, including responding to client inquiries and IRS notices.
- Software Utilization: Utilize tax preparation software to complete and file tax returns, ensuring accurate data entry and calculations.
- Reporting: Prepare and maintain records and reports related to tax preparation and filings.
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information and adhere to ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Experience: Proven experience as a Tax Preparer or similar role; 2 years of experience in tax preparation and filing or Customer Service.
- Certification: CPA or Enrolled Agent certification (preferred but not required).
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, H&R Block).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Work Conditions
- Hours: [Full-Time/Part-Time hours], including possible extended hours during tax season.
- Environment: REMOTE ONLY
