We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing effective treatment plans for clients, both in individual and group settings.

Shift Types: Monday - Sunday

  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience working with children
  • RBT certification (preferred but not required)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Completion of pre-employment reference check
  • TB and health screening
  • Background check (Central Registry Clearance)
  • CPS Background Clearance
  • Basic computer skills

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Behavior Technician required. 

Work Location: Grand Rapids (No travel required)

General Responsibilities:
The Behavior Technician position is a specialized role under the supervision of a BCBA. Responsibilities include implementing individualized behavior reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans within a short-term residential unit. The clients are children and adolescents with mental health disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time position is unique within the ABA field, as it does not require assignment to a particular case or travel between sites. All clients will be served within the short-term crisis/residential unit.

Personal Traits:
The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding and ability to work with emotionally impaired children, displaying empathy to effectively serve behaviorally and emotionally challenged children diagnosed with Autism. The candidate should be self-directed, responsible, and possess good moral character.

Training Provided:

  • Heartland 5-day training program
  • Region-specific Behavioral Safety Training (e.g., Mandt, Gentle Hands, QBS) for de-escalation of aggressive behavior

Job Duties:

  • Record data on clients' skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs
  • Conduct parent/caregiver update and training calls as needed
  • Collaborate closely with BCBA to provide clinical updates for all clients in the unit
  • Assist clients in enhancing independence by targeting daily living and self-help skills, such as meal preparation, cleaning, and basic laundry
  • Provide personal care assistance as needed
  • Lead daily activities, including games, crafts, and social group events
  • Maintain general upkeep of residential areas, including bedrooms, hygiene areas, and day rooms
  • Support Direct Care staff with clinical guidance
  • Provide physical management support to staff if clients exhibit aggressive behavior
  • Assist BCBA in creating necessary materials
  • Support the Leadership team with other duties as assigned

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Expected Hours: 40 hours per week
