Structural Welder

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Structural Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate must have extensive sheet metal experience, be proficient in creating flat patterns, and operate brake presses. Expertise in structural, MIG and TIG welding techniques is essential. The role involves supervising and mentoring a team of three junior welders, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Sheet Metal Fabrication: Interpret engineering drawings, create flat patterns, and produce components to specifications.

Brake Press Operation: Efficiently and safely operate brake presses to bend and form sheet metal.

Welding Expertise: Perform structural, MIG and TIG welding tasks, ensuring strong and durable welds on various metals including aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.

Supervision and Training: Oversee and mentor a team of junior welders, providing guidance and feedback.

Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.

Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols in the workshop.

Equipment Maintenance: Maintain fabrication equipment for optimal performance.

Collaboration: Work with engineering and design teams to optimize fabrication processes and troubleshoot issues.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, including flat pattern development, brake press operation, structural and MIG/TIG welding.

Proven supervisory experience, with the ability to manage and mentor a team.

Strong knowledge of metallurgy, welding techniques, and fabrication processes.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
