Job Summary

The Accountant position under the supervision of the Vice President of Accounting is responsible for analysis of past and present financial data of the organization and estimate future revenues, expenditures, and capital planning. 

Specific Duties:

  • Daily Cash Account Analysis – Maintain a running cash balance for each assigned property while working with PMs to estimating potential future cash needs/receipts for the month.
  • Responding to inquiries from property managers or assistants in the field and understanding how those inquiries may or may not impact the overall accounting records of a specific property.
  • Preparation of Monthly Financial Reports and associated statements including, but not limited to, Balance Sheet, Budget Comparison, General Ledger, Rent Roll, Accounts Receivable Aging, Security Deposits Payable, Check Register, and Bank Reconciliation.
  • Prepare various reconciliations as necessary. (Tenant Ledgers, GL accounts, Prepaids etc)
  • Process tenant receipts. Verifying correct property, tenant, building suite etc.
  • General Ledger Maintenance.  Requires the understanding of posting all types of Journal Entries and understanding how those JEs will impact the GL.
  • Keep track of all capital asset additions for assigned properties.
  • Keep abreast of Yardi Property Management System and other advances in the computer accounting field.
  • Scan checks from assigned properties using Yardi Check Scan daily.
  • Receipt non-check payments of assigned properties into Yardi.
  • Verify the proper posting of all receipts to buildings’ tenants.
  • Enter all corporate & intercompany invoices and run checks out of Yardi software weekly.
  • Reconcile various vendor accounts for entry into AP system.
  • Manage the accounting system electronic workflow for completion and posting
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the Master vendor file.
  • Responsible for the issuance of all Form 1099s in January of each year.
  • Learn and then analyze various corporate processes with the end goal of improving efficiency, accuracy and quality of the needed result.
  • Work with all process stakeholders to design an improvement plan and then implement that plan on time and on budget.

Requirements:

Qualifications

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting.  It’s understood that much of the experience may have been gained through educational programs and internships.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
