CNC Programmer

Summary:

The CNC Programmer is responsible for programming CNC routers to ensure precise and high-quality parts production.

Main Responsibilities:

Safely and efficiently operate CNC equipment and software.

Independently set up and run CNC machines; assist in training others on setup, operation, and functionality.

Prepare CAD drawing files for CNC machining.

Design fixtures and tooling for machine operations.

Review the Master Production Schedule and develop a weekly CNC schedule.

Perform initial setups on parts and troubleshoot as needed.

Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, programmers, documentation, and other personnel to resolve machining and programming issues. Identify plans and processes for CNC operations and maintenance.

Choose the appropriate cutting tools for specific machining operations and materials.

Inspect and measure finished products against requirements to ensure proper completion.

Maintain and record established processes, ensuring only authorized and documented changes are made. Create work SOPs and documented procedures for operations, instructions, and maintenance.

Support CNC machines at all sites as needed.

Manage and maintain all tools and equipment for CNC, including sharpening, cleaning, reordering, and storage.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

Adherence to safety, housekeeping, and quality standards, with knowledge of proper procedures.

Proficient with computers, including basic programming and CAD/CAM software.

Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read blueprints and plans accurately.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Detail-oriented with a results-driven approach.

Capable of working independently or in a team.

Proficient in using a measuring tape, hand router, hand sander, table saw, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.

Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

High school diploma or equivalent; a certificate or diploma in engineering or a related field is a plus.

Willingness to work at various plants and travel as necessary.

Must be authorized to work in the United States full-time.

Education and Experience:

 

Must read at an 8th-grade level and pass pre-employment qualifications.

On-the-job training provided.

Previous experience as a CNC programmer or operator preferred; 2+ years of CNC experience required.

Experience with RouterCIM, Autodesk Vault, and Inventory software preferred.

A degree in a STEM field (engineering, computer science, or math) is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

 

Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and meet the physical demands of the job.

Wear required PPE and work in a dusty environment.

Capable of prolonged sitting or standing, crawling, walking, carrying, squatting, kneeling, bending/stooping, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing, twisting at the waist, and reaching at/above or below shoulder height.

Fine manipulation and grasping with one or both hands.

Working Conditions:

 

Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather, mechanical moving parts, and chemicals.

Frequently exposed to high places, vibration, fumes/gases, toxic chemicals, and odors.

Continuous exposure to dust and dirt.

Loud noise environment.
