Job Title: Machinist A
Location: Camarillo, CA
Duration: 6 months contract (May extend depending on the client needs)
Work schedule: 1st shift 5:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday - Friday

  • Set up and operate production machines to perform tasks such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming parts, following pre-established plans and sequences.
  • Make necessary machine adjustments and report any improper functioning or cutting actions for correction.
  • Perform precision operations such as tapping, spot-facing, chamfering, countersinking, and counterboring to meet close tolerances.
  • Align and fasten parts using standard fixtures and established methods, adjusting feeds, speeds, and depth of cut as needed to ensure quality.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, or other irregularities from machined parts, handling a range of production parts from simple to complex.
  • Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments, gages, and magnification equipment, while visually checking for burrs and surface damage.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability, perform statistical process control (SPC), participate in lean initiatives, and adhere to company safety and cleanliness policies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of Lathe and Mills machine operating experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Able to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
  • Has working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, may include trigonometry.
  • Effectively applies lean initiatives.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interprets reports and uses job specific software applications. Able to use employee self‐service systems to access on‐line information and use specialized automated systems (i.e., PMR, TORS, e‐mail).
  • Effectively demonstrates team member competencies and participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and self‐development activities.

TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time. The team member is required to demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to operate machinery.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others. May be required to lift up to35 lbs.
