Senior Payroll Specialist/Manager

Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure appropriate tax codes have been assigned during the initial hiring process and are appropriately maintained in the employee's master record.
- Create and transmit new hire reporting file, quarterly state unemployment reports and annual federal and state W-2 reports.
- Oversee timely weekly payroll process through monitoring and auditing the weekly payroll process resolving all time, input or system issues.
- Review data entry related spreadsheets prepared by payroll administrators and CA staff to verify accuracy of hours, rates and calculations.
- Research issues related to missed or excess union deductions and correct accordingly.
- Process manual checks and voids as needed.
- Process the bi-weekly exempt payroll.
- Monitor and review attendance records for assigned employees resolving discrepancies and instructing approvers regarding appropriate entries.
- Enter weekly attendance from times sheets/cards for those without clock access.
- Ensure that employee records have been properly interfaced to all necessary technology systems.
- Manage all accrual profiles and ensure that appropriate accrual schedules are assigned for each employee.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues regarding improper deductions and send appropriate communication directly to employees regarding any corrections.
- Process final payments consisting of time worked and accrued time as communicated by HR, ensuring that deductions for unreturned company property have been made.
- Prepare requests for reversals and voids as necessary.
- Update and maintain Payroll Processing Manual documenting changes as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree a plus
- UKG Experience mandatory, and historical data integration experience preferred.
- 5- 10+ years of solid management payroll experience.
- Prior experience processing in-house and outsources payrolls using a variety of systems.
- Working knowledge of time and attendance systems as well as Microsoft applications, specifically Microsoft Word,
- Excel and Outlook.
- Other/Personal Skills: Ability to exercise effective collaboration across different teams and employees.
- Skills - excellent oral and communication skills.
