Kaylee's Garden is seeking an immediate dedicated and passionate full-time Cook to join our childcare center's team The ideal candidate will have a love for food and a keen interest in contributing to the health and well-being of children while following and meeting dietary requirements. The cook will be responsible for preparing homemade, nutritious, and delicious meals for children of various ages (Infants-school age) and staff, managing kitchen inventory, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment that follows State Regulations.

  1. Plan and prepare homemade meals and snacks in accordance with the center’s menu and USDA nutritional guidelines.
  2. Ensure meals are appealing and appropriately portioned for children of various ages (Infant-School Age).
  3. Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
  4. Manage food inventory and supplies placing orders weekly to ensure the kitchen is well-stocked.
  5. Accommodate children with special dietary needs and allergies, ensuring their safety.
  6. Create bi-weekly menus.
  7. Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities related to child nutrition and health.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned by the center director.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a childcare setting or similar environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and experience preparing meals for young children.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organization and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must complete Pediatric CPR & First Aid

Working Hours:

  • This is a full-time position. Work hours will be determined by preparation for meals. Hours will typically range from 7:00am – 3:30pm
  • Five days a week

Wages:

  • Wage starts at $17.00 an hour and will increase depending on the individual’s experience, reliability, and work ethic.
