Job Summary:


As an Early Learning Specialist for ParentChild+, you will be at the forefront of providing critical early childhood education and family support services to understand families in their homes. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with families, building strong relationships to empower parents as their child's first and most important teachers. Through regular home visits, you will deliver high-quality educational materials, guide parents in fostering their child's development, and connect families to essential community resources. Your dedication to promoting school readiness and social-emotional growth will be instrumental in setting children on a path to lifelong success.


Responsibilities: 


Family Engagement and Support:

  • Build trusting and meaningful relationships with families, recognizing their unique strengths and challenges.
  • Conduct regular home visits to deliver high-quality books, educational toys, and curricular guide sheets to families.
  • Provide parents with guidance on vocabulary-building, engaging conversation, skill development, social-emotional growth, and imaginative play.
  • Support parents in understanding the importance of their role as their child's first and ongoing academic advocate.


Child Development and Education:

  • Observe and assess children's development during home visits, identifying areas for growth and improvement.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that stimulate cognitive, language, motor, and social-emotional development.
  • Foster a love for learning through interactive play and exploration.


Community Resource Connection:

  • Assist families in assessing community resources and services related to food, housing, healthcare, and other essential needs.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and local resources to provide comprehensive support to families.


Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of home visits, family engagement, and child progress.
  • Prepare reports and documentation to track program outcomes and impact.


Professional Development:

  • Participate in ongoing training sessions and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge in early childhood education and family support.
  • Engage in reflective practice and continuous learning to improve your effectiveness as an early learning specialist.


Qualifications:


  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Experience working with diverse and underserved communities, especially in an early childhood education or family support setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles, best practices, and curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with families from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  • Compassion, patience, and understanding in working with families facing various challenges.
  • Familiarity with community resources and services to support families in need.
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency in the languages commonly spoken within the community is a plus.


Part time 20 hours weekly
