The Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting the US Finance Manager, initially focusing on contract to cash processes with a heavy effort on collections, month end closing, reconciliations, backup for other processes across the US business, and a few global entities.

Reporting to the US Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant will demonstrate capability in financial accounting and reporting and will provide financial and administrative support for the organization. The Senior Accountant will help facilitate month end close by entering financial data such as accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and intercompany entries into the ledger on a monthly basis working closely with the AP and AR accountants. They will also assist with annual audits (local and group), tax assessments and other ad-hoc assignments.

This role is a key member of a highly motivated team who enjoy using data and numbers to generate insights and improve our business. The successful candidate will be comfortable communicating with colleagues of all levels across all functions. This position is a great opportunity for an outcome-focused individual with a ‘can-do’/hands on attitude.

The position is being recruited during an ongoing finance transformation project. As such, this an exciting and unique opportunity to be involved at a critical period of change in shaping the functions future.

Location
Washington, DC (hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office)

Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with the US Finance Manager, develop and implement processes that support and deliver best practice accounting activities.
  • Prepare and book monthly journal entries, review all transactions and provide commentary on recurring activities along with one-off adjustments.
  • Assist with of the preparation and reconciliation as directed by the US Finance Manager. Verify and investigate reconciliation discrepancies, if any, and identify improvements in order to ensure validity of the accounts.
  • Provide direct support to the AR function to ensure our contract to cash processes are best practice and meeting our working capital objectives.
  • Play a key role in supporting the US Finance Manager with all aspects of annual audit, tax and regulatory activities.
  • Serve as a member of the financial controller team responsible for ensuring alignment, consistency, and best practice finance outcomes across Americas and globally.
    • Active participant in the implementation and ongoing improvement, training of all finance related systems across the DGA platform.
    • Collaborate and provide direction to US Controllership team members as needed to ensure completion of scheduled and planned activities.
  • Other ad hoc activities as directed by the Group Financial Controller and US Finance Manager.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience with GL accounting experience. Experience working within a finance team of a complex business, in professional services or similar nature global business, is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or related discipline with at least 4 years post qualification.
  • Experience in US GAAP and solid understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
  • Detail oriented with a proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers, high degree of accuracy and diligence.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Excel and prior experience with an ERP system - Sage Intact required.
  • A fast-paced learner who can hit the ground running, with a track record of rolling sleeves up to get the work down while looking for improvements longer term.
  • A team player who demonstrates curiosity and is action oriented.
  • Evidence of ongoing study and continuous personnel development.
