About us

Wyrwmwood is a fast growing, premier gaming table manufacturer located in Taunton. To help us with our next phase of growth, we are looking for someone to grow with the company in our CNC department.

There are two shifts available for this role:

  • Weekend: 6:00am - 6:30pm (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) 36 hours but paid for 40
  • Nights: 3:30pm - 1:00am (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) 36 hours but paid for 40

Job Overview

The CNC Operator/Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining the computer numerical control (CNC) programs that guide the operation of precision machinery used in manufacturing processes, and operating and maintaining CNC machinery to produce precision parts and components.

Responsibilities and Duties

Programming Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with machine operators and production personnel to ensure the proper setup of CNC machines.
  • Verify tooling, workpiece placement, and machine settings to guarantee the accuracy of the machining process.
  • Analyze and optimize CNC programs to enhance machining efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve tool life.
  • Minimize waste and scrap material through effective programming techniques.
  • Identify and address programming, tooling, and machining issues that may arise during production.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve technical problems promptly.

Operator Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines, and routers, following established procedures and work instructions
  • Perform maintenance tasks on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components.
  • Monitor machine performance, identify any issues or malfunctions to ensure optimal machine operation and product quality
  • Conduct regular inspections of machined parts using precision measuring tools, such as calipers, optical comparator, or gauges, to verify conformance to specifications and make necessary adjustments to machine settings or tooling to achieve the desired accuracy and surface finish
  • Monitor the production process, including tool wear, cutting speeds, and feeds, to ensure efficient and safe operation. Identify opportunities for process improvements, such as optimizing cycle times or reducing waste
  • Maintain accurate records of machine settings, tooling changes, production quantities, and inspection results.
  • Generate reports or log entries documenting production activities, machine performance, and any incidents or deviations from standard procedures.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Follow quality standards, regulations, and protocols to produce parts that meet or exceed customer expectations and industry requirements.
  • Load and unload raw materials and workpieces onto the machine, ensuring proper alignment and secure clamping.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years operating CNC machines
  • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer, with a strong understanding of machining processes, programming languages (such as G-code), and CAM software.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam, Siemens NX), as well as a deep understanding of CNC machine operations, tooling, and cutting parameters.
  • Above average analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve programming and machining issues.
  • A meticulous approach to programming and machining processes to ensure the highest level of precision and quality.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and practices related to machine operation and maintenance. Commitment to following safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries

Physical Requirements

  • Pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, stretching, reaching, kneeling, carrying, and climbing
  • Ability to properly lift up to 40 pounds
  • Able to push and pull up to 25 pounds on a regular basis

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
