SAW, Inc. is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This position involves working with a group of adults who have developmental disabilities and require additional support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a weekly schedule of activities focused on each individual's areas of interest, fostering positive behavior, facilitating the development of functional skills, and engaging individuals in various recreational activities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide support and training to help individuals increase independence and achieve their life goals.
- Provide supervision, instruction, and support to ensure health and safety.
- Plan and implement activities according to individual interests and preferences.
- Assist individuals to expand their social network.
- Provide personal care and feeding for individuals.
- Plan and provide transportation in SAW vehicles to community outings.
- Administer medication and first aid under the direction of a SAW Inc. nurse.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the agency’s insurance company.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to arrive at work on time each day.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Obtain/maintain CPR/First Aid and DODD certifications (can be done after hire).
- Ability to push/pull lift 50 pounds.
