Job Title: Fraud Specialist

Job Summary:  The Fraud Specialist at SunWest Federal Credit Union plays a crucial role utilizing fraud prevention and detection strategies in safeguarding the institution and its members from fraudulent activities. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth investigations to determine the root causes of suspected, reported or detected instances of fraud, working closely with other departments, law enforcement, and external agencies if necessary.
• Gather and analyze evidence, including transaction records, communication logs, and other relevant information.
• Answer inbound dialer callbacks.
• Collect and preserve evidence, maintaining a chain of custody as required for potential legal action.
• Collaborate with other credit union departments, other credit unions, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory agencies when necessary.
• Utilize fraud detection tools and software to prevent, mitigate, and report fraud and suspicious behavior.
• Stay informed about the latest advancements in fraud detection and prevention tools.
• Support members and other credit union staff in filing claims, management of member relationships, and collection of monies owed.    • Member facing to assist with fraud related challenges. Internally and externally.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Associate's degree or similar educational achievement in relevant field.
• One to three years related banking experience required.
• Understanding of Credit Union services and products and Credit Union philosophy.
• Excellent computer efficiency (MS Office/Word/Excel and Outlook)
• Ability to operate PC and other computer systems and software, including office equipment
• Customer service.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
• Must be able to communicate professionally on the telephone.
• Other Duties as may be required
