The Office of Strategy and External Affairs has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting Communications and Marketing Analyst who will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications plans in support of key agency goals and objectives.

 

The Communications and Marketing Analyst will be responsible for providing communications counsel and support to Office of Strategy and External Affairs, along with other programs and projects as assigned. This position provides an opportunity for a communications professional to join a highly innovative and productive team and work on issues of regional importance. The Communications and Marketing Analyst position will report to the Senior Manager of Community Relations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•                    Plans, coordinates and implements content and logistics for major agency events to ensure smooth operation from planning to implementation under tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment;

•                    Serves as team lead for State of the Region event and other enterprise events;

•                    Develops and executes strategic communications plans to support agency goals and objectives;

•                    Plans, writes, and executes the social media editorial calendar and content for the agency’s primary social media channels

•                    Writes and edits copy and content for event marketing, website, social media channels, email campaigns, and e-newsletters, post-event summaries, remarks and event content production;

•                    Captures photos and video of agency events to support social media efforts

•                    Supports agency’s sponsorship marketing program and annual strategic partners program(s) to include conducting outreach efforts to partners and potential partners and communication regarding benefit delivery;

•                    Provides other communications support as assigned;

•                    Performs other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

•                    Strong project management skills

•                    Knowledge of principles and practices of public relations communications;

•                    Knowledge of principles and practices of marketing and digital marketing;

•                    Ability to simultaneously manage and prioritize many tasks and projects, communicate effectively, and organize using a project management platform;

•                    Ability to communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing, to a broad range of audiences; ability to prepare and deliver visually appealing written reports, public presentations, and recommendations to a variety of audiences; Ability to plan, coordinate, and organize work to meet deadlines with accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail;

·                     Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with senior management and C-suite partners.

•                    Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

•                    • Knowledge of principles and practices of digital communication and media, including social media platforms and website content design;

•                    • Skill in gathering data, interpreting information, and applying logic and reason;

•                    • Skill in writing/editing press releases, articles, speeches, website content and other digital media content;

•                    • Skill in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction;

•                    • Ability to work effectively in team-based environments, which require high levels of initiative, autonomy and independent thought and action;

•                    • Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively work toward deadlines;

•                    • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, while maintaining a firm grasp of individual project details;

•                    • Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills;

•                    • Possess excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills;

•                    • Proficient in standard office equipment and MS Office suite.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•                    Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, meeting planning or related field and two years of experience with digital communications, media relations, traditional public relations and/or community engagement

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

 

 

 

This class is the second level in a three-level Communications and Marketing Series devoted to providing strategic communication, outreach and marketing planning, including coordination and direction of the agency’s brand, as well as creative project development, management and implementation, and communication engagement and outreach. Incumbents provide development of a variety of communications media and marketing tools and products and serve in an advisory role for product development and branding direction. As assigned, work may include writing and producing content, graphics and video; developing communications plans and strategies including short- and long-range messaging and marketing plans; leading the creation and update of educational materials, marketing materials and digital content; serving as a liaison with stakeholders and community organizations; and serving as a spokesperson to the media, as assigned.
