The Tax Manager is responsible for providing guidance and leading our tax practice along with our partners. This candidate will oversee our Hawaii office.

Job Description:

  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and people management
  • A leader who develops and grows its members; works with staff to assist in their development by providing effective feedback; consistently improves quality and productivity of staff; focuses on achieving members' goals and team goals
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, and corporate tax planning
  • Capable of leading engagements in a strategic manner
  • Serve as the primary engagement manager and manage projects to ensure that the client is presented with a technically accurate and high-quality product representative of the firm commitment to excellent client service.
  • Build client relationships, demonstrate knowledge of client business, and work closely with clients to advise on income tax issues and related tax planning
  • Build and support teamwork within the team.
  • Recognize, anticipate, and resolve tax issues and other issues; then provide solutions and recommendations
  • International tax experience is highly valued
  • Recognize, anticipate, and resolve issues by providing solutions and recommendations
  • Ability to demonstrate “working smart” by leveraging technology and other methods
  • Embrace and adapt to the company’s practices, policies, and culture

Requirements:

  • 5 or more years of prior experience
  • Understanding of Hawaii taxation
  • International tax experience is a plus
  • CPA certification
  • Diligent work ethic and dedication to providing superior client service
  • Must be proficient in corporate, partnership, and individual tax planning and compliance
  • Experience in managing multiple client engagements at the same time
  • Fluency in Japanese is a must
  • Oahu resident
