We are currently seeking a Procurement Supervisor to join our team. This position will be responsible for all functions related to the procurement of materials and services needed for ongoing production operations and office management. It is a professional role that will utilize a combination of data analysis, leadership, and organizational skills to deliver high-quality products with financial efficiency. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, and experienced in procurement strategies with the interest and expertise to learn materials acquisition within the traffic construction industry.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the acquisition of material and component parts for the production of traffic equipment.
  • Coordinate and oversee the logistics of acquiring materials and parts, including costs.
  • Calculate and provide material costs to the Estimating department to assist in quoting new work and completing bids; Maintain a pricing database for both parts and assembled final products.
  • Acquire working knowledge of all parts, materials, and items used in the production and assembly of final products.
  • Source material and services needed for manufacturing and facilities management.
  • Purchase materials and equipment in the proper quantity and standards of quality to conform with approved project specifications.
  • Determine purchasing needs by analyzing incoming orders against the stock quantities and forecasting for future needs
  • Oversee routine physical inventory counts and reconciliations.
  • Work with Manager and internal staff to create and maintain a system/method of reporting and monitoring inventory
  • Assist with facilities management, storage space needs, and general office supervision.
  • Oversee Purchasing, Receiving, and Billing staff.
  • Work with Sr. Managers to design and implement cross-functional processes for operations.
  • Oversee the Return Merchandise Process for all returned defective vendor materials.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Minimize cost and risk to the company for overages and shortages of inventory.
  • Source new material and services as needed for operations.
  • Create and implement quality control checks for incoming materials.
  • Analyze and report vendor performance.
  • Work with Legal, Project Manager, Sales, Production, and other internal departments to ensure on-time delivery and excellent customer service.
  • Work with Sr. Managers to develop pricing strategies that support company profitability goals.
  • Coordinate with other Supervisors to oversee general day-to-day operations of the New Jersey office.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Accounting or related field.
  • Three years’ successful experience in purchasing or procurement in a construction or manufacturing business.
  • Two years of successful experience in direct sales and customer service in a business-to-business or business-to-government sales model.

Skills/Knowledge Areas:

  • Proficiency with business process design/workflow development and systems/applications used for Inventory Management in a manufacturing industry.
  • Proficient knowledge of pricing strategies and materials acquisition.
  • Expert knowledge of computer applications and systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and at least one inventory management system. Working knowledge of graphs and flowcharting is a plus.
  • Expert math and organizational skills, with the ability to manage large volumes of mathematical calculations and database information.
  • Proficient knowledge of inventory management processes and protocols in a construction or manufacturing environment.

Nature and Scope:

  • Professional level position that requires independent thinking and decision-making
  • Will work in the South Plainfield office.
  • May occasionally be required work hours in addition to the regular work schedule.
