Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are an educational center working with grade 4-12 students, part of a one of the largest chains of educational service providers. We are looking for a part-time Math Tutor to be part of our teaching team. If you happen to also be able to teach a science (physics, chemistry, or biology), that would be a plus.The position starts as part time, with some flexibility to work out the specific schedule of work hours and the possibility that over time it may become a full time position. There are potential opportunities for advancement. Please note that this position is for in-person work only; please do not apply if you are not currently able to commute to our center in Herndon, VA USA.
WE PROVIDE:
- Consistent and flexible scheduling. Tutors do not have to deal with the hassle and expense of traveling to other people's homes and can expect a predictable weekly pay. Initial pay rate is based on experience and educational background, with periodic performance-based pay raises.

- Instruction is done from our center or from a tutor's location (remote teaching), so there is no traveling to a student's home. There is no homework to grade or reports to fill out after teaching. Also, tutors are not responsible for communicating with parents (our office staff handles that). We want our tutors to focus on what they do best - teaching
- A good learning environment, with all the teaching resources you'll need in our center - just bring your skills and love of teaching. Tutoring is done one-on-one or in a small group (max 3 students).
- Students who are eager to learn from a great teacher like you
- A B.S. or higher level degree
- Sharp reasoning skills, reflected in an ability to do well on and teach SAT-level material. Our math tutors take a sample SAT at our center and must score 700+ in the math section of the test.
- Strong math skills in Algebra I, II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus and Calculus.
- Science backgound: A background in one or more of the sciences - physics, chemistry, biology or other science - is a plus.
- A passion for teaching and working with young people.
Compensation
*$27 - $31/hour starting, plus an optional 401k match by employer. Profit-sharing upon completion of eligibility period.
