GENERAL SUMMARY: Produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR SKILLS:

  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic shop mathematics
  • Experience in heavy structural fabrication
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings and welding symbols
  • Proficient in effective operation of welding equipment
  • Knowledge of properties of metal and other materials
  • 1-2 years of CNC Operating experience

DUTIES:

  • Ability to set up and operate machines tools for drilling, milling and grinding
  • Load machine with work pieces
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces
  • Maintain specifications by observing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, sharpening and replacing worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
  • Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality
