The Role

Reporting directly to the VP, Corporate Controller, the BU Controller – Streamline Brands role is critical in leading the financial operations of a business unit as well as the corporate accounting function. With a strong focus on being a strategic business partner, the BU Controller will collaborate directly with the BU Presidents and play a crucial role in leading the BU financial management and reporting. As the BU Controller, the primary job duties include supervising the accounting operations and reporting, performing financial planning and analysis, as well as partnering with the BU leadership teams to deliver business insights and steer strategic decisions. As a leader on the YEB Corporate team, they will have responsibilities in the areas of group functional shared services as well as consolidated financial reporting. By ensuring financial integrity and promoting financial transparency, this role will contribute to the growth and success of the company.


Key Responsibilities

  • Primary Accounting Business Partner to BU Senior Leadership Team; advises the Senior Leadership Team on the financial implications of business unit decisions and strategies.

  • Manages the accounting operations including, in particular, revenue and accounts receivable, gross profit, and accounts payable and purchasing. Ensures all processes are completed to meet deadlines.

  • Reviews, evaluates, and implements accounting systems, policies, and procedures. Drives process improvements. Identifies and leads innovative activities to systems and processes.

  • Ensures all financial reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Prepares and presents financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysis. Provides management with timely reviews of the organization’s financial status and progress.

  • Supervises monthly account reviews and reconciliations.

  • Monitors receivables to ensure credit risk is mitigated.

  • Oversees accounts payable function including but not limited to compliance with expense reporting, capitalization policy, and purchase order procedures.

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies across the organization, mitigating financial risks and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Coordinates annual independent audit process and preparation of annual tax documents. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.

  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

  • Manages and builds a high-performing team by planning, assigning, and directing work. Accurately appraises performance, helps to build confidence by recognizing success and coaches employees. Appropriately address performance concerns and develop a highly engaged and customer-focused team.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required. A Master’s degree and CPA are strongly preferred.

  • Five plus years of related experience at the Controller level.

  • Experience in franchise business preferred.

  • Working knowledge of forecasting and financial reports. Demonstrated ability to interpret financial conditions and anticipate the impact on the organization.

  • Proven ability to build effective relationships, influence senior executives' decision-making and work with all levels across the organization.

  • Strong and proven organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

  • Proven leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate a team.

  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office, and Accounting software such as NetSuite, Concur/Ramp, Tipalti, etc.
