Our company is currently seeking a Machinist/Toolmaker to join our team Northern Electric Company repairs electric motors, generators, pumps, gear reducers and many other types of production related equipment for industry.
We are seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker / Machinist to work with the following equipment:
- Manual Mill
- Manual Lathes (the largest can swing a shaft 18' long and a part 39" in diameter)
- CNC Lathes
- CNC Horizontal Boring Mill
- CNC Vertical Machine Center with Fourth Axis
- Surface Grinder
- Knee Mill
A well-qualified candidate must have experience running manual equipment. Our machining department is a true job shop, with approximately 80% of the work done on the manual equipment while the remainder is done on the CNC.
When a mechanical device comes in for repair, all of the parts which have a critical machined surfaces are inspected by our machinists to check for proper tolerances. If an item is worn, the machinist will estimate the number of hours needed for repair.
Many of our customers' maintenance managers have come to trust and depend on our machine shop to perform machine work on additional items in their plants. Many times, it requires reverse engineering a damaged item, and repair on emergency service.
We stock a large variety of shaft steel giving us the ability to machine new shafts, and we use several welding and metalizing processes in the repair of damaged parts.
The starting payrate for a Journeyman Machinist is $25-30 per hour. Northern Electric Company also currently contributes an additional $11.74 per hour worked to the IBEW Local 1392 for the Health & Welfare and Pension Funds per member above the hourly wage. We offer Vacation and Optional Days as well as 9 paid holidays per the Union Contract. Northern Electric also offers 32 sick hours per year above the contracted earned benefits.
