Shop Technician

Our Shop Technicians work with our customers to understand their needs, then perform repairs and maintenance on their vehicles and equipment while also maintaining a safe working environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· May specialize in one area of motor vehicle repair, such as transmissions, radiators, brakes, air conditioning, tires, or another specific component of a semi tractor/trailer.
· Work with customers to understand their needs. Discuss repairs and cost associated with repairs prior to beginning work. Provide updates along the way as necessary.
· Identify mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
· Ensure that all critical parts are examined.
· Perform repairs, replacements, or routine maintenance as needed. Test to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.

· Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
· Ability to read service/repair manuals and work orders.
· Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
· Mechanical repair knowledge and skills.
· Knowledge of assigned specialized area(s) and/or general vehicle repair and maintenance.
· Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software preferred.
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical or vocational training is preferred.
· 3 years of related mechanical experience is preferred.
· National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence certification for area of expertise is preferred.
· Successful completion of on-the-job training is required.
Physical Requirements:
The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
· Ability to work in a noisy area with strong odors present.
· Ability to lift 30 lbs. regularly.
· Ability to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed. Adequate vision required to inspect work.
· Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
· Prolonged periods of standing
