Job DescriptionJob Description

Job Description: The Physical therapy Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a qualified Physical Therapist with the Plan of Care.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·      Performs physical therapy procedures as prescribed by the physician and supervised by a qualified Physical Therapist.

·      Under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist provides treatment and rehabilitative services to patients who have experienced injury or disabling disease.

·      Administers non-complex therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water and electrical modalities to clients with relatively stable conditions.

·      Teaches basic principles of good posture and body mechanics in relation to changing needs of individuals in all age groups.

·      Instructs client and family members on the proper use of assistive devices.

·      Helps client utilize the resources of their community and family

·      Observes client’s progress and response to treatment and reports findings to the Physical Therapist.

·      Reports changes in the client’s condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.

·      Modifies Plan of Treatment, as authorized by the physician, after subsequent authorization, instruction and supervision by the Physical Therapist.

·      Prepares clinical notes and progress reports, documenting physical therapy treatments performed, and submits them for review to the supervising Physical Therapist.

Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
