We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with experience of repairing multi-axis, CNC machines (metal cutting: milling, turning and grinding machines).

Job Purpose:

As the Maintenance Technician you will play a key role in ensuring our machines and equipment are well maintained and able to keep pace with production.  Your responsibilities will encompass responding to CNC machine breakdowns, executing repairs and completing planned preventative maintenance.  

To be successful you must have knowledge of fault finding and repairing CNC machinery covering mechanical (bearing/motors/belts), hydraulics, pneumatics, controls, electrical systems. machine alignments and upgrades 

Your experience must include CNC multi-axis machine tools,  preferably turning, milling and grinding machines.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of planned preventative maintenance,
  • Swift response to machine breakdowns - diagnoses of  mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults and carry out repairs,
  • Address maintenance and repairs efficiently in a way that minimises production downtime,
  • Order replacement parts and replenish stock items,
  • Maintain good communication with the production manager and operators regarding repairs and downtime,  
  • Planning and site management of sub-contractors.  

Requirements:  

  • Experience of implementing planed preventative maintenance programmes for multi-axis, CNC heavy machinery,  
  • Previous experience in fault diagnostics for CNC machinery including, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic.  
  • Proficient at reading engineering drawings, schematics and manufacturers’ manuals,
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure, manage a varied workload, and adapt to changing demands,
  • Flexible to undertake facility repairs when required,
  • Self-motivated and initiative-driven, and effective both independently and collaboratively, 
  • Knowledgeable about safe work practices and familiarity with OSHA safety regulations,
  • Flexible,  able to respond to emergency out-of-hours call outs.
  • Advantageous would-be familiarity with an MRP/ERP system.

 

Experience & Qualifications:

Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar maintenance role working with CNC, multi-axis, metal cutting machines encompassing turning, grinding and milling machines,

Holds a recognised trade school qualification or equivalent experience. 

 

Physical Demands:

To complete the tasks of this role you will be standing, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting.

You will need to be agile enough to access the inner mechanisms of the machines to diagnose faults and refit parts. You will use handheld power and manual tools, and larger equipment such as slings.
