We are looking for a Backend Developer to join the team to help lead all this amazingness forward.
THE POSITION
Motionstrand is seeking an experienced Backend Developer with a passion for designing system solutions and building complex web applications. The ideal candidate has a solid development background and significant experience with Drupal and WordPress among other open-source frameworks.
As a web developer with a focus on backend development, you will spend the majority of your time in the planning, development, QA, and deployment phases of projects. As a member of the Motionstrand team, you’ll work with designers, developers, and project managers to develop solutions for both existing and future clients using modern tools and technologies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Accurately quote and complete development tasks while adhering closely to development plans, standards, and timelines.
· Apply extensible programing techniques and anticipate changes to application specifications, functionality, and future requirements.
· Drupal & WordPress module/plugin research, installation, and updates.
· Build custom modules/plugins for Drupal & WordPress.
· Build content types, template files, views, etc... for content display within opensource CMS frameworks.
· Perform regular maintenance and updates on existing web applications.
· Build and integrate APIs and third-party services.
· Solve complicated problems with efficient solutions through coding.
· Assist with creation of functional specification documents for technical projects.
Frontend development support as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum of 5 years web application development experience.
· Ability to efficiently work with and design application program interfaces (API) and various web services.
· Strong understanding of responsive web design and cross browser support.
· Expert level skills in PHP, SQL, XML, JSON, SOAP, Python, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
· Broad-strokes frontend development as needed to support frontend developers.
· Knowledge and understanding of modern client-side JavaScript frameworks, such as Angular.
· Proficient with GIT version control system.
· Experience with open-source CMS platforms including Drupal and WordPress. Code contributions to open-source communities are a plus.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Solid ability to collaborate within team environments as well as working and performing independently.
· Solid ability to work under pressure with a capacity for flexibility when the extra time is needed.
· Ability to work efficiently within Adobe Photoshop, Figma, and Sketch.
· Code examples for review.
