Job DescriptionJob Description

Nevada Family Dentistry is seeking a highly motivated Registered Dental Hygienist to join our well established and reputable private practice.

We are very employee oriented with an emphasis on employee satisfaction and work/life balance. We strive to improve and continuously grow in this respect. 1 hour recare and 90 minute new patient appointments allow hygienist the time they need to build relationships and give superior care to their patients.

We offer paid time off, an in-house dental plan, a scrub allowance, a retirement plan, paid time off and holiday pay.

This position will be 31 hours a week working Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 7:45 am-3:00pm.

Registered Dental Hygienist license required.

Daily Duties of the Dental Hygienist

  • Review schedule and patient needs for that day.
  • Seat patients, review medical history (medications, recent hospitalizations or surgeries, and emergency contacts, etc.)

  • Take necessary radiographs.

  • Complete intra and extra oral cancer screening.

  • Complete dental and periodontal charting.

  • Complete necessary scaling, polishing, and flossing procedures.

  • Complete oral hygiene instructions with the patient.

  • Complete list of the patient needs and concerns thoroughly for the Doctor's exam.

  • Assess the need for periodontal treatment and/or referral.

  • Assess the need for sealants.

  • Schedule the next recare appointment according to the patient’s needs.

  • Post and submit completed procedures to insurance.

  • Refer the patient to the front desk for any restorative scheduling needs.

  • Document appointment procedures, recommendations, and treatment needs in patient charts.

  • Sanitize and prepare operatories for the next patient following OSHA guidelines.

  • Take instruments to Central Sterilization to be sterilized and advance instruments accordingly.

  • At the end of the day, print chronological day sheet, review, and make any necessary changes

Adjunct Procedures

  • Perform equipment maintenance and instrument sharpening.
  • Apply pit and fissure sealants following product instructions.

  • SRP-Administer required anesthesia in the specified area. Utilize the cavitron and hand instrumentation to thoroughly debride the sulcus. Administer adjunct medicaments to affected areas as needed.

  • Full Mouth Debridement

  • Administer Anesthesia (as needed on hygiene patients and to help the restorative side of the office when time allows).

  • Administer N2O (Rarely required on the hygiene side).

  • Help perform emergency exams.

  • Administer nutritional counseling.

  • Perform oral hygiene instruction.

  • Restock operatories.

  • Clean partials/retainers.

  • Complete IntraOral scans as needed
