Job DescriptionJob Description

We seek a well-organized and seasoned medical biller to join our team. This role entails managing patient and insurance data, facilitating payment procedures, and ensuring compliance with billing regulations. The ideal candidate possesses proficiency in billing software, a thorough understanding of medical insurance regulations, and adeptness in addressing patient and insurance inquiries. Upholding patient confidentiality and accurately inputting data are also key responsibilities.

Responsibilities of a Medical Biller
- Verify and complete patient information
- Obtain any missing patient details
- Assess referrals and authorizations
- Validate patient benefits and insurance coverage
- Adhere to Medicare, state program, and HMO/PPO regulations
- Transfer billing data and insurance claims to relevant software
- Generate both physical and digital documentation
- Establish and manage a system to track payments, including late ones
- Monitor and follow up on overdue payments
- Issue late payment notifications to concerned parties
- Address inquiries and grievances from patients or insurance entities
- Pursue resolution for late or unpaid bills
- Address and rectify financial inconsistencies
- Coordinate payment arrangements and timelines
- Maintain meticulous records of billing and documentation
- Abide by established billing protocols
- Update and review accounts to ensure payment records are current
- Safeguard patient privacy while handling personal information

Requirements for a Medical Biller
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in accounting, health care administration, finance, business, or related field preferred
- Two (2) years' prior experience in medical billing required, behavioral health billing experience preferred
- Proficient multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel), Google Suite; familiarity with billing software advantageous
- Excellent customer service aptitude, adept at addressing queries from patients and insurance providers
- Analytical problem-solving skills with a focus on devising effective solutions
