Job DescriptionJob Description

Job Function:

Build new tools, maintain existing tools, repair damaged tools, design and build fixtures for secondary machining operations. Will interface with Manufacturing, Scheduling, Engineering, and Quality to ensure tools and repairs are produced with dimensional accuracy and correct surface finish, within the time allotted for project completion.

Requirements:

  1. May be required to attend and/or hold training meetings and/or informal meetings.
  2. Monitor safety issues and take corrective action.
  3. Read, interpret and follow company policies and procedures.
  4. Maintain equipment to standards, perform minor maintenance as required, and request appropriate maintenance in a prompt manner.
  5. Must set an example in all actions of work, discipline, attendance, quality and performance.
  6. Order tooling, stock, and other necessary items for mold construction and repair.
  7. Troubleshoot mold problems and repair.
  8. Train personnel (Toolmaker's Assistant, Process Technician, Shift Supervisor, General Foreman, Shift Leaders) on the proper way to clean and maintain molds.
  9. Ensure documentation is complete and concise.
  10. Assemble and/or repair tooling by reading and following tooling prints.
  11. Inspect mold repairs and components as required.
  12. Document all work on molds, from simple preventative maintenance and cleaning to major component changeovers.
  13. Possess the ability to use measuring equipment including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, indicators, optical comparator, etc.
  14. Maintenance an inventory of spare components for maintenance and repair of tools.
  15. Interact with outside vendors to secure necessary services (welding, heat treating plating, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods throughout the workday.
  2. Must possess sight and hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enhance these senses to function adequately.
  3. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
  4. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  5. Must have the ability to use powered lifts (powered palette jack, forklift, and mold set lift).

Qualification:

  1. Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented with Technical courses in machine shop operations and the use of machining equipment. Applicable Journeyman's Certificate desirable.
  2. Work Experience: Five years working in a machine shop, or applicable Journeyman's Certificate. Two years in a plastic tool shop working on injection molds.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
