Job DescriptionJob Description

Agnus Dei Academy (pronounced awn/yoos day) supports homeschool students in need of tutoring. Instructor needed for grades 1st through 4th. Students meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 8:00-3:15pm. Subjects include history, religion, science, art, literature, geography, and classical languages. Curriculum, resources, supplies, and lessons are all provided at no cost to the instructor. The academy provides families and staff a low student to instructor ratio. Instructors spend less time on redirection/classroom management and more time teaching.

For instructors interested in a full-time position, private tutors are needed for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Subjects include math, phonics/reading, spelling, and grammar.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (emphasis in elementary education or theology preferred)
  • Experience in education preferred
  • Active member of a local Catholic parish preferred
  • Willing to sign an Oath of Fidelity and make a public Profession of Faith
  • Must complete the Safe Environment Training and submit to a background check
  • AZ FBI Fingerprint clearance card required

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of a classical liberal arts education and the mission of the academy
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the academy
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding student and academy matters
  • Utilizes appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning
  • Uses effective instructional methods/models according to professional standard practice
  • Practices positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom
  • Communicates with parents regularly regarding academic progress, behavioral concerns, etc.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits

Duty Days: Instructors meet with students twice a week for 32 weeks (64 days total). In addition, instructors are compensated for classroom set-up, orientation, and end of the year clean-up.
