Job Responsibilities of Direct Support Professional (DSP)

  • Provides transportation for individual(s), by picking up individuals from their homes and transporting them to the day hab site; and transporting the individual(s)’ home from the day hab site, using the company’s vehicle.
  • Transports individual(s) for community integration/inclusion activities using the company’s vehicle.
  • Creates and maintains an environment that is healthy, safe, comfortable and productive for the individual(s) serviced.
  • Travels out into the community with the individuals to participate with the individual(s)’ with their community integration and inclusion activities to fulfill their individual(s) goals
  • Follows all agency’s policies and procedures regarding safety in all environments.
  • Implements individual(s)’ support plans as written.
  • Provides assistance and support to individual(s) in activities of daily living.
  • Obtains knowledge of individual(s) supported desired outcomes and goals; works to ensure they are integrated into daily activities.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all personal information concerning individual(s) supported.
  • Treats all individual(s) supported, families, coworkers and supervisors with dignity and respect.
  • Demonstrates the importance of community involvement, social interactions, and maintaining relationships.
  • Encourages individual(s) supported to give back to the community.
  • Exhibits professional behavior towards the individual(s) supported, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Provides clear, accurate and timely records and documentation.
  • Participates in and completes periodic training and certification as required.
  • Reports all concerns to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Reports all instances of abuse, neglect, mistreatment and exploitation immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Completes Individuals’ Monthly notes demonstrating the progress of the individuals on a timely basis
  • Perform all other tasks required or assigned by supervisor.
