Looking for a skilled Manual Machinist to join a growing company in Bloomfield CT

Responsibilities:

  • Lathe work:
    • Perform all normal operations of Engine Lathes up to 63" swing. Including set up of parts in the machines using chain falls and electric hoists. Knowledgeable about the usage of standard carbide indexable tooling to perform manual lathe work such as turning, boring, facing, drilling, threading, grinding, etc.
  • Milling Machines:
    • Perform all standard operations of bridgeport and similar knee type milling machines to include set up, operation, adjustments, cleaning, preventative maintenance, along with milling, drilling, boring, slotting, etc. on manual machines
  • Grinding:
    • Capable of operating small manual surface grinding machines to include set up, cleaning, preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Usage of Measuring Tools:
    • Capable to using all standard inside and outside micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, rulers, dial indicators, etc while performing inspections and machining to components pertaining to the repairs of power transmission equipment, and a large variety of parts from equipment being overhauled in other departments
    • Able to read and make simple sketches and drawings of parts and be capable of performing all duties relative to job shop machining

Physical Requirements:

  • More than occasional heavy (over 60 lbs) lifting, moving, and carrying
  • Must be able to climb onto machines and large awkward work pieces
  • Able to reach, climb, manipulate parts, and stoop in the set up of machines
  • Able to stand for a full shift while operating machines
  • Able to use lifting and moving equipment (come-a-longs, chainfalls, hoists, slings, rolling skids)

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a four year Technical/Trade High School
  • Machinist training at a Trade School/Training Center (WMPI) with training in blue print reading and drafting
  • Must be able to communicate ideas with others effectively
  • Possess good blue print reading, shop math, and decision making skills

Hours are Monday - Friday, 8AM - 5PM

Compensation: $25-35/HR (BASED ON EXPERIENCE)
