We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Mechanic Helper to join our team, a leading equipment rental company. As a Maintenance Mechanic Helper, you will assist our maintenance team in performing routine maintenance, repairs, and testing on our fleet of equipment to ensure it is in excellent working condition. You will work closely with our experienced mechanics to troubleshoot and resolve issues, and will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is properly cleaned, serviced, and prepared for rental or sale.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist experienced mechanics with routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations
  • Perform basic repairs and troubleshooting on equipment to identify and diagnose issues
  • Test equipment to ensure it is functioning properly after repairs or maintenance
  • Clean and prepare equipment for rental or sale, including washing, painting, and detailing
  • Assist with inventory management, including counting and tracking inventory of parts and supplies
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet deadlines and achieve goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or other supervisors

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a maintenance or repair role, preferably in the construction or equipment rental industry
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in mechanics or a related field preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work at heights (e.g. on aerial lifts)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASE certification in Small Engine Repair or Heavy Truck Brake Systems
  • Experience with equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, skid-steer loaders, etc.
  • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic equipment and software

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily indoors in a shop environment, but may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions when needed
  • Exposure to loud noises, dust, and fumes from machinery and chemicals
  • May be required to work at heights or in confined spaces
