Job Description

 

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for the programming, set-up, and operation of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to ensure accurate measurement of parts and components. Will work with technicians, quality control, and engineering to ensure the highest precision in parts and products.

 

Detailed Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Program CMM to measure parts and components to meet design specifications, using software programs.
  • Analyze and interpret drawings, data, manuals and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on CMM equipment as required.
  • Ensure CMM is working at optimal capacity for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production departments and assist with finding solutions to quality issues.
  • Utilize a variety of inspection and measurement tools and equipment (height gage, CMM, optical comparator, pins, gages, scales, moisture meter, density meter, penetrometer, viscometer, etc.) in the performance of inspection and measurement duties.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Complete inspection documentation and report discrepancies to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations and quality standards.
  • Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
  • May be assigned as a mentor to develop and guide junior quality control staff members.
  • Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Perform all other duties requested, directed, or assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may lead, guide, and assign basic tasks to entry and intermediate level employees within the department. May participate in inter-departmental projects and process improvement committees.

Education and/or Experience

Vocational or Technical Certificate or some college level courses in related; field minimum of 10 years of experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in a directly related field.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Outlook; MS Excel and MS Word software.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of programming CMM equipment (Calypso preferred)
  • Working knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
  • Working knowledge ERP systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.

 

Other Qualifications

  • U.S. Person for access to EAR and ITAR-Controlled Technical Data.
