Job DescriptionJob Description

NYU Pre-Internship entails a semester long, 8-10 hours per week, of supervised music therapy clinical practice with children and adolescents with mental, physical and/or emotional problems in a variety of settings within the New York City area, such as Manhattan Star Academy (Upper Location).

The assigned NYU first year graduate student pre-Intern observes and learns from upper location music therapist through all scheduled music therapy classroom groups and individual sessions and receives 30-45 minutes of supervision per week. Student will complete weekly reflections to discuss in supervision, and both pre-intern and supervisor will complete the NYU Music Therapy Pre-Internship midterm and final evaluation. By the end of the semester, student will co-lead sessions and/or interventions under direct, in-person, supervision of the upper location music therapist.

This is an unpaid internship opportunity that is only open to current students. The internship may be able to satisfy course credit if approved by the student's institution of learning.
