We are searching for enthusiastic people to use your teaching skills and passion to share your knowledge with our students

Do you have an area of expertise, past experience, talent, or hobby and the interest in teaching it to others? Are you enthusiastic about sharing that knowledge in a creative, innovative, flexible environment? Teach from 1-12 hours per week on a schedule that works for you. Pick your day, hours, and the age group you would prefer to work with.

A Herndon learning center is seeking creative, enthusiastic, part time instructors for small group, daytime classes for the 2024-25 school year. Classes are held in-person in Herndon for 30 weeks from Sept 3 to May 16.

Instructors are sought for a variety of traditional “core” subjects, electives, and extracurricular topics. Instructors do NOT need to be state licensed teachers but do need a passion for their topic and relevant experience teaching or coaching youth.

These are classes for homeschoolers and are not meant to mimic the same subjects or follow the same scope/sequence as public school curriculum. Homeschoolers are looking for a greater variety and greater depth of topics Following is a partial "wish list" of instructors/specialties:

• Science (elementary, middle school)
• Maker/Tinkerer (elementary, middle school)
• Psychology (high school)
• Architecture, Interior Design or City Planning (high school)
• Model UN (high school)
• Business (high school)
• Marekting/Advertising (high school)
• Elementary Math (elementary)
• ASL sign language for children (elementary)
• Civics (middle and high school)
• Geography (middle school)
• Graphic Design (high school)
• Microsoft Office Suite (high school)
• Veterinary Science (high school)
• Video Editing/Film (high school)
• Film Critique (high school)
• Book-making
• Artistic Journaling
• On-call/as needed tutors in math, reading writing (all levels)

Our high school classes are often a great fit for adjunct college professors. Retired and former teachers are welcome. Subject matter experts and teaching artists will be considered from a wide variety of other fields. Submit your ideas and qualifications for consideration. Send your resume, letter of introduction, and concepts for interesting classes by e-mail.

Most classes meet 1-2 hours per week. It may be possible to have more than one class scheduled back-to-back. Day, time, duration, and session length negotiable. This is for in-person instruction only. We are located convenient to Dulles Toll Rd, Fairfax County Parkway, and new Herndon Metro Station (3/8 mile).

Instructors are hired as independent contractors. Criminal background checks are conducted and references are called. Compensation is negotiable based on topic and experience.
