*Job Title:** Powder Coater/Cerakote
**Job Overview:**
As a powder coater, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying powder coating and/or Cerakote to surfaces, and ensuring a high-quality finish on various products and components. Your work will play a crucial role in enhancing the appearance and durability of these items.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Surface Preparation:**
- Clean and prepare surfaces for coating by removing dirt, rust, grease, and old coatings using appropriate methods such as Hand sanding, Powder Tools, abrasive tools. Sandblast Cabinet
- Inspect the surface to ensure it meets quality standards and make any necessary repairs or adjustments.
Work with Sandblast team to ensure the surface is prepared properly.
2. **Powder Coating Application:**
- Set up and operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns and booths.
- Apply powder coating materials evenly and accurately to achieve the desired finish and thickness.
- Monitor and control various factors such as air pressure, temperature, and powder flow rate to ensure consistent results.
3. **Quality Control:**
- Inspect coated items for defects, such as drips, sags, or uneven coverage.
- Touch up or re-coat areas as needed to achieve a uniform finish.
- Perform quality checks to ensure that the coating meets customer specifications and industry standards.
4. **Curing Process:**
- Place coated items in curing ovens to bake the powder coating and cure it to the desired hardness and finish.
- Monitor and control oven temperature and duration to avoid over-baking or under-baking.
5. **Maintenance and Cleanup:**
- Clean and maintain powder coating equipment regularly to ensure its proper functioning.
- Dispose of unused powder coating materials and waste in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
6. **Safety Compliance:**
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in powder coating.
- Knowledge of different types of powder coatings, application methods, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
