Job Description:

Snelling Staffing has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant in Panama City, FL. to join our financial services team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public accounting, proficiency in bookkeeping, tax preparation, and payroll processing, and excellent customer service skills. This position requires the ability to work independently and handle various accounting tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen and demonstrate competency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Requirements:

  • 4 year degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; will substitute experience for degree
  • 2 years of experience in a public accounting firm
  • 1 year of experience with bookkeeping and individual tax preparation
  • Knowledge of Florida sales tax report preparation and payroll processing
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level or higher
  • Experience with Adobe PDF and professional tax software such as ProSystems or Drake Tax is preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
  • Reliable transportation or a personal vehicle for running errands
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Clean Criminal Background

Responsibilities:

  • Perform bookkeeping updates for assigned clients on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Prepare and submit individual tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Manage Florida sales tax report preparation and submission
  • Process payroll for clients, including handling inquiries and resolving discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure the integrity of financial records
  • Provide clear and accurate information to clients regarding accounting inquiries
  • Schedule and manage appointments promptly and accurately
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Conduct client follow-ups to provide accurate information and ensure client satisfaction
  • Handle veteran inquiries and ensure compliance with veteran-related regulations
  • Run errands as needed, requiring reliable transportation or a personal vehicle
  • Work closely with the supervisor on various client projects
  • Answer phones and interact with clients and other visitors in a professional manner
