Steelite International is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of payroll processes, regulations, and best practices. This role requires the ability to handle payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with various state and federal regulations.

What will I do as a Payroll Specialist?

• Maintain payroll records and employee information in accordance with utmost confidentiality and data protection
• Process weekly, bi-weekly, and off-cycle payrolls
• Verify accuracy of payroll files per policies and regulations
• Managing direct deposits, benefit withholding, payroll deductions, paid time-off accruals, etc.
• Maintain payroll records and documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws
• Review submission of bi-weekly, quarterly, and yearly payroll taxes
• Coordinate the setup of new tax requirements in collaboration with the finance department and external payroll service provider
• Manage year-end W2 and 1095 audit/corrections and distribution
• Respond to employee inquiries and research payroll-related issues in a timely manner
• Assist with audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
• Stay current with changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Conduct audits to ensure proper payroll procedures and compliance with internal policies
• Preparing reports as necessary
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned

What are the qualifications and skills?

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, handling payroll across multiple states.
• Education: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
• Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and procedures. Familiarity with multi-state payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
• Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all payroll-related tasks.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex payroll information clearly and concisely.
• Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
