The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing comprehensive speech and language programs, promoting communication skills, and enhancing language development across various learning environments.

As a new school, flexibility and adaptability are essential. While you will have your primary responsibilities, you will also be expected to take on a variety of tasks beyond your main role to support the diverse needs of the school. This collaborative approach is crucial to creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities and Job Tasks
  • Develop and implement individualized speech and language therapy programs that align with our structured educational model, integrating innovative approaches to enhance student engagement and communication skills.
  • Conduct assessments to identify students' speech and language needs, and continuously evaluate their progress, adapting therapeutic strategies to meet evolving needs.
  • Work closely with educators, occupational therapists, and assistive technology specialists to create a holistic educational experience, incorporating speech and language goals into broader learning plans.
  • Participate in a continuous daily data collection system to monitor and measure the effectiveness of speech and language interventions, using digital tools for real-time feedback and adjustment.
  • Engage with families and community organizations to support students' communication development in various contexts, fostering a supportive network for students' growth.
  • Stay informed on the latest research and best practices in speech and language pathology, participating in ongoing professional development to bring innovative approaches to the school.
  • Expertise in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): We are seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist with specialized experience in working with students who require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). The ideal candidate will be proficient in conducting comprehensive AAC evaluations, developing individualized AAC plans, and implementing these communication systems within educational settings. This role involves not only providing direct intervention but also training staff, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and collecting ongoing data to monitor the effectiveness of AAC strategies. A strong emphasis is placed on integrating AAC methods to support the overall communication and learning goals of students with diverse needs.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Valid state license in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
  • Experience working with children with diverse communication needs, including those with behavioral and sensory challenges
  • Experience with AAC evaluation and implementation. 
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptive approach to therapy

Physical Requirements
  • Capable of engaging in and facilitating dynamic activities throughout the school day
  • Able to handle the physical demands of working with children of various abilities, including assisting with movement and physical activities as needed
