JOB SUMMARY
Operates computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic work pieces involved in the production of Cypress Technologies products. Incumbent works on manufactured products from simple to complex, with minimal supervision. The incumbent must have a good understanding or the position’s duties and good understanding of the technical aspects of the position. The incumbent can recommend process and/or equipment improvement.

• Ability to create programs inside Solidworks, Esprit, Autodesk Fusion 360 that includes and is not limited to Swiss Lathe, 4th Axis Mills, 3

Axis Mills, Traditional Lathes, Manual Mills and Lathes and also has the ability to build 3Dimensional Models from 2Dimensional Engineering Blueprints

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Actively participates in Safety Program
• Adheres to all quality assurance procedures
• Works overtime as required (sometimes with minimal/short notice)
• Participates in process improvement activities
• Follows instructions of Team Leader and/or Supervisor
• Any other duties and responsibilities as needed
• Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
• Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
• Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
• Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequences.
• Lift workpieces to machines manually or with hoists or cranes.
• Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.
• Calculate machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of cuts.
• Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation.

• Set up and operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic workpieces.
• Confer with manager to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors.
• Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished workpiece dimensions, or numerical control sequences.
• Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions.
• Control coolant systems.
• Maintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools.
• Stack or load finished items or place items on conveyor systems.
• Clean machines, tooling, or parts, using solvents or solutions and rags.
• Set up future jobs while machines are operating.
• Implement changes to machine programs and enter new specifications, using computers.
• Inspect completed work for conformance to specification using tools such as calipers, height gauges, micrometers, rulers, etc.
• Clean, repair and perform preventive maintenance on CNC machinery.

EDUCATION
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required
• Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of machine shop tools and equipment
• Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of the trade
• Knowledge of Computer Programs utilized to program and build CNC programs for the various CNC machines located in the machine shop ie: Solidworks, Esprit, Mastercam, Autodesk Fusion 360.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• Base Knowledge - 3 years of experience with operation of CNC Machines, tool set-up, editing and inspection in prototype and production environments; 2-3 years of experience managing schedules, workflow, safety, personnel and equipment; Ability to set up, program, operate and troubleshoot CNC lathes and mills independently.
• Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
